Description
AVEYRON – NEAR RODEZ
Built on a rocky spur in the 12th century, this red sandstone castle overlooks the verdant valley. A remarkable example of feudal architecture, from the Romanesque to the Classical period, the castle itself traces several centuries of history. Listed on the Inventaire Supplémentaire des Monuments Historiques in 1993, it was fully classified in 1995.
Acquired by the current owners in 1993 when it was in a state of near-ruin, the château has benefited from an exceptional restoration, carried out in close partnership with the Conservation Régionale des Monuments Historiques. This ambitious undertaking, spanning several decades, has resulted in a spectacular renaissance: the facades have been completely rebuilt, the roof and roof structure completely rebuilt, and the interiors restored with exemplary attention to detail. This work has restored the building to its original nobility.
Behind its powerful walls, the château has contemporary comfort. The monumental stone staircase leads to a dozen rooms : two reception rooms, a library, a cosy dining room, bright galleries, a semi-professional kitchen, six bedrooms, all with private bathrooms and authentic fireplaces in perfect working order. Two large rooms with vaulted ceilings serve as cellars.
The technical features are worthy of the place: underfloor heating by water circuit, stone floors, old flagstones and parquet flooring, electricity completely redone. Every detail has been carefully thought out with respect for the building.
The landscaped grounds have been designed with sense and delicacy. A heated swimming pool opens onto a breathtaking panorama.
Two outbuildings below the château are just waiting for a second life.
This is a really unique property.
