Natural heritage and exceptional built heritage

Rich in its past, strong in its present, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes has always been able to highlight its particularities to make them assets. A regional identity that perpetuates a true tradition made of authenticity, openness and dynamism.

The rich heritage of Lyon, reflecting the different eras, tells the story of the city listed as a World Heritage Site. On the banks of the Rhône and the Saône between the hill of Fourvière and that of the Croix Rousse, the region is at the crossroads of grands crus between Beaujolais and Côtes du Rhône. But also at the gateway to the flavors of Southern Ardèche and Drôme Provençale.

At the crossroads of Northern and Southern Europe, a few hours from Paris, the central position of Clermont-Ferrand is one of its major assets. Since the middle of the 20th century, the economy of Clermont has been closely linked to the Michelin company, which has strongly influenced the development of the city.

A region with unique landscapes

The natural environment of the city is exceptional, close to the Natural parks of the volcanoes of Auvergne, the Livradois Forez, the plain of Limagne and the sites of Puy de Dôme, Gergovie and Vulcania. The Chaîne des Puys offers a unique variety of volcanic buildings with characteristic shapes in a limited space. Over 40 km from north to south, around a hundred volcanoes are scattered, the majority of which are built on the plateau of the Domes between the fault of Limagne overlooking Clermont-Ferrand and the Sioule valley.

In Savoie, the hiking trails meander above the Lakes of Bourget, Lake Geneva, Annecy and circumvent the mythical Mont-Blanc. Also, they cross one of the 9 nature reserves or the oldest of the 7 National Parks of France: the Vanoise.

In winter, family skiing, new winter sports, large areas, charming villages, the choice is wide.
