Description
FORMER MILL AND RESORT
Located on the banks of the Creuse River, this mill, which has been in operation since the 13th century, is a place steeped in history, completely restored and converted into a charming bed and breakfast. Formerly a wheat mill and then an oil production workshop in the 19th century, it now offers an authentic and peaceful setting, ideal for stays with family or friends.
The estate comprises three separate buildings — the Mill, the Manor House, and the Dovecote — with a total of eight bedrooms and 21 beds, combining old-world charm with modern comfort.
You can also enjoy a large 6×12m swimming pool, naturally heated by the sun, surrounded by lush greenery and peaceful surroundings.
A unique place to get together, relax, and discover the heritage and nature of the Val de Creuse.
A rich history of activity
The mill bears witness to France’s rural history, having been in operation since at least the 13th century. It belonged to a religious order and experienced significant growth in the 19th century, with sustained milling activity and diversification into oil production.
In 1836, the mill employed three millers and six miller’s apprentices, reflecting its considerable activity. In 1838, an oil production workshop (rapeseed, flax, poppy seed, hemp seed, walnut) was set up there.
In 1847, the mill was destroyed by fire. It was rebuilt in 1848, before ceasing operations at the beginning of the 20th century. It was then restored and converted into a heritage site and guesthouse.
