Description
The estate lies at the heart of the Entre-deux-Mers, on hills bathed in sunlight. It overlooks the bastide town of Pellegrue, founded at the end of the 13th century by Edward I of England. The name Pellegrue probably comes from the Latin Peregrina (pilgrim, traveller), which gave rise to ‘pèlerin’ (pilgrim) and then ‘pèlerine’ (pilgrim’s cloak). Some historians believe that it is a distortion of the word used to describe pilgrims (pellegrins) travelling to Santiago de Compostela: the bastide is indeed located on a secondary route.
It is in this setting of vine-covered hillsides, hedgerows and small valleys that the estate’s vines are rooted. The land is generous but demanding, requiring attention, patience and the right approach. Here, nothing is left to chance: each vine tells the story of the loyalty of a passed-down expertise, each plot expresses a balance between nature and human labour.
The estate covers 93ha 63a 21ca, including 76ha 98a 75ca of vines divided between red and white varieties, all cultivated organically. These deep soils produce wines with a strong personality: supple, straightforward, balanced and faithful to the spirit of the great wines of Entre-deux-Mers, the historic cradle of the first Bordeaux wines.
It comprises approximately 2,500 m² of buildings (wine cellars, equipped stainless steel vat room, offices and workshops).
The property is certified HVE3 V4, ISO 14001 and 9001, BIO and BIO China IFS/BRC.
The estate, which is currently in full operation, forms a coherent whole: modern wine cellars equipped with temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, a mechanical workshop and offices – a total of 2,500 m² of buildings in perfect condition. It is a production facility on a human scale, designed to be immediately operational, whether for a family takeover or a professional investment project.
The wines produced fly the flag for the terroir: AOC Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur and Entre-deux-Mers, but also a few more unconventional vintages — Rosé, Clairet, French Claret, and Crémant de Bordeaux. Red grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc) sit alongside white varieties (Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Muscadelle).
Fixed equipment (including approximately 8,000 hl of stainless steel vats) is included in the sale. Wine stocks and mobile equipment (vines and cellars) may be negotiated separately.
This estate, rooted in a landscape of bastides and vineyards, embodies the spirit of Entre-deux-Mers: simplicity, solidity and authenticity. Here, the vineyard is not just a backdrop: it is the very lifeblood of the region.
